  • Created full environment in Houdini including terrain, stone steps, and snowfall using procedural workflows.

  • Drew custom guide curves to define tree lines and stair alignment, driving distribution patterns.

  • Used scatter-based instancing to place trees procedurally with varied scale and rotation for natural feel.

  • Applied Boolean operations selectively on terrain and structural elements to reduce mesh complexity.

  • Combined instancing and geometry operations to optimize scene performance and memory usage.

  • Integrated custom materials across surfaces; managed shader assignments per object type.

  • Designed and positioned lighting to enhance depth, focal hierarchy, and mood in the snowy setting.

Death Star Procedural Modeling in Houdini

  • Created 5 modular sci-fi structures (e.g., turrets, radars, bases) for surface detailing.

  • Used scatter-based instancing to distribute assets procedurally across the Death Star geometry.

  • Excluded placement along the equator trench and superlaser hemisphere using masks.

  • Aligned assets to surface normals with randomized rotation and scale.

  • Exposed controls to adjust asset count and distribution density.
